17 Months

Baby G, you are now 17 months old! You are a walking, talking, crazy little mess!!! You keep us on our toes. Here are your stats at 17 months:

  • I shouldn't have talked about your teeth last month. This month, you got 4! Sorry about that little buddy. Your top and bottom molars came in, and your "I" teeth are starting to pop up on the top and the bottom.
  • We went a month without an ear infection...YIPPEE!! You got tubes put in your ears a few weeks ago, so hopefully we are done with those mean old things!
  • You do not like to be corrected. When we tell you no, or something else you don't want to hear, you close your eyes and keep them closed until we finish. If we start again, you close them again.
  • If something really hurts your feelings, you make the saddest little face I have ever seen...a little quivering lip with closed eyes that looks like you are desperately trying to hold back tears....it really is sad, and it usually allows you to get away with anything and everything.
  • You now have taken over the responsibility of feeding the dogs. Momma fills the water bowl and gets you a cup of food, then you carry it over to their bowl and fill it up. You then like to play with it, but we are working on that. Now if you could just start reminding Mommy to feed the dogs daily.
  • You know when you do wrong. Almost immediately after hitting or biting, you lean your head in to my face (or whoever you hit...usually me!) that is your way of saying sorry.
  • Leaning your head in is also your way of giving "sugars" or "love", and you have gotten generous with your love.
  • You are a big helper...Mommy can tell you to go put something away and MOST of the time you listen.
  • You are starting to enjoy cartoons. However, you usually only like them when you are sitting in the recliner cuddled up with Mommy or Daddy. If we try to get up, you are right behind us.
  • You still love your books and love to be read to. Your favorite book is anything that has animals in it. You point to them, sometimes name them, and sometimes make the sound that they make.
  • You are trying very hard to talk. You say a lot of words....some of them have to be translated, but you are doing a great job. Some of your new words for this month are: apple (apa), cheetah, cheese (sheee)...which you now say when taking pictures too....so cute! Dog (da), socks (sok), car (ca), no, go....I know there are more, but I just went blank. Sorry G!
  • You took your first ride in an airplane this month, and you were such a big boy!
  • You really understand things now, and you are doing a really good job of communicating what you want...sometimes we don't get what you are saying, and that is when the frustrating screams start, but we are all working on that! :)
  • You are growing faster than we could have ever imagined. Sometimes it makes me sad, but I love watching you learn new things and discover the world around you. You continue to be the greatest blessing in our lives. We love you and can't wait to see what you have in store for us this month!

Testing the comments section. It hasn't been working, but I think I may have fixed it.
